Hey there, I'm Kelsey
So if you’re anything like I was, your skepticism radar is on high alert right now. Bring your skepticism, questioning, resistance, complacency, and whatever else is there for you. It is all welcome. All I ask is that you remain open minded throughout this inquiry process.
I want to lay the foundation by being honest. If you are looking for a quick and easy way to make millions, then I suggest to look somewhere else. This program is not that. If you are willing to do the work, both externally and internally, then this could be extremely impactful.
Now I want to start by acknowledging you for letting your curiosity lead you here and for taking the time to learn more about how online marketing can support you to design your own life.
A little about myself.
I grew up on a small island off the coast of Seattle, Washington with my parents and younger brother. I was blessed to grow up playing outside a ton and having loving and supportive parents. They showed me to not let my fear of the unknown stop me from doing the things I love.
This didn’t necessarily mean that I got that lesson the first time around. I ran the other way from the unknown plenty of times. I was shy and super self conscious as a kid and throughout high school. I didn’t want to disappoint anyone, myself included. Luckily, my parents were super rad and supportive and pushed me to travel and get off the island.
I remember coming home one day from high school to tell my mom about this program that takes kids to live with host families in Latin America. I was both terrified and thrilled at this notion. Through our conversation, she helped me gain clarity that I really wanted to do it. I needed to raise $5,000 and would be away from home for six weeks in a place where I barely spoke the language.
I traveled to Costa Rica that summer, where I lived in a tiny mountain town with a family of six. There, I realized just how many ways there are to live life. My family got up at 5 am, where we milked cows before breakfast and hauled wood down from the mountain in the afternoon.
I was part of a project to build a community kitchen where the locals could cook together and raise money for other community needs. It was then that I experienced what it was like to give to a cause bigger than myself. This was so much more rewarding than getting an A on a math test. I was hooked!
I returned to Latin American in college, where I studied in Ecuador for three months. Again, I was amazed at how diverse and beautiful the world was. Upon returning to the states, I finished my degree in environmental studies in 2013. I had the eager and naive outlook that I was going to redefine environmentalism. I quickly realized that knocking on people’s doors asking for money to save the sea turtles was not for me. I also wasn’t willing to work the 80 hours a week for minimum wage.
I was totally lost at that point. I had just spent four years of my life devoted to one career path and now I realized it wasn’t what I thought. I started talking to family friends who were in healthcare. I talked to a Naturopath, Chinese doctor and Nurse Practitioner. The NP intrigued me the most because it would give me the most flexibility for traveling and I would get to support people heal from all socioeconomic backgrounds. Essentially, insurance covers western medicine way more than “alternative.” So I started taking prerequisites and went to nursing school, graduating in September 2018.
That’s where I am right now. I am an acute care nurse in a large teaching hospital in Portland, Oregon. This experience has been crazy. I interact with all walks of life and get to support them in getting their health back. It’s one of the most moving and powerful experiences of my life. I have the honor of contributing to people when they are at their most vulnerable state.
It is incredibly draining work, however, and though the schedule is more flexible than Monday to Friday 9-5, it is still a job. You may call me crazy, but I think there’s a way to play and have total flexibility, while doing something I truly love.
Now is an opportune time to introduce my partner, CJ. We have been together for eight powerful years and they have been the most formative ones of my life, in large part because of our relationship. He is always there to support me, whether it’s reminding me how amazing I am when I’m down or pushing me off the deep end when I need it. Essentially, he’s my best friend and love of my life.
Naturally, we share a similar vision for the life we want to create. We want to grow a family and actually have the time to be truly present with our kids. We want to travel and play, building a community that collaborates and supports each other. We don’t want to raise our kids on our own. We want to have our parents present and a community of like minded people all supporting each other to live healthy, vibrant lives. And we don’t want to squeeze this between the jam and peanut butter of the 9-5 job.
CJ became involved in SFM in November 2017. As I mentioned in the opening, my skepticism radar was on high alert. How can people use the internet to create whatever job they want while generating large amounts of money and be able to do it from anywhere in the world? After much scoffing and questioning, I took initiative to learn more for myself. By watching a seven day video series, I learned that these people are committed to more than helping people become rich; they want people to find their purpose in life, and live a life they love.
Everywhere I travel, I hear people’s desire to create a sustainable and loving world. Yet we are often stopped by time, money, self confidence and being totally overwhelmed about where to start.
I see SFM as a way to generate the money and the time to change this conversation. And I’m sharing this with you because I don’t want to do it alone. I want all of us to be able to redesign the world, starting with our own lives.
If any of this is intriguing to you, you saw yourself in what I shared, or you want to learn more, check out the free seven day video series. I would also love to hear from you via email through the contact page.
